We work across the spectrum of developing
countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America and the
Caribbean. From Kenya to Azerbaijan, Peru to the Philippines, we
have associates on the ground with an understanding you can get only
by being there. A selection of recent projects include:
Africa
FRICH:
Nathan EME
manages the £2 million Food Retail Industry Challenge Fund (FRICH)
which aims to support the development of new business models that
will increase the flow of African food products into the UK.

Nigeria: Nathan EME is
currently managing a US$ 32 million project aimed at increasing the
growth of micro, small and medium enterprises in several states.
Lesotho:
Nathan EME managed a four year World Bank funded project to increase
private sector provision of agricultural support services, and
replace a top-down approach to public extension systems with a
user-driven, bottom-up system.
Kenya:
Nathan EME
examined the potential
contribution selected non-oil value chains to growth and employment
in four states of Nigeria.
Asia
Azerbaijan: Nathan EME designed
the SME financing component of a World Bank project to provide
credit and restructuring advice to enterprises going through
privatisation and restructuring.
Bhutan:
Nathan EME was engaged by ITC to prepare an export strategy for the
Kingdom of Bhutan.
India:
Nathan EME helped evaluate an EU-funded project for promoting
high-value horticultural crops and reoriented the project’s
extension delivery system to make it more responsive to local
communities.
Vietnam: Nathan EME undertook a
strategic investment and commercial planning study for a major
multi-national transportation firm constructing a large-scale
infrastructure project in the Mekong Delta region.
Eastern Europe
Bulgaria: Nathan EME developed
an FDI marketing strategy for the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy.
Moldova:
The Government of Moldova commissioned
Nathan EME to inform a new approach for the
government’s support of the cereals sector based on learned lessons
from past approaches to food security and grain price stabilization
policies.
Serbia:
Nathan EME provided support to the Ministry of
International Economic Relations of the Government of Serbia to
strengthen aid co-ordination processes
and strategies for investment promotion.
Ukraine: Nathan EME was contracted by DFID to manage a major
project to improve the competitiveness of Ukrainian medium-sized
enterprises.
Latin
America and the Caribbean
Central America: Nathan EME
undertook a regional strategy performance review to feed into the
design of DFID’s strategy in Central America.
Commonwealth Caribbean: Nathan EME assessed export capabilities and opportunities in
professional services and developed a strategy to increase export
earnings.
Jamaica: Nathan EME developed a
Master Plan for the tourism industry.
Latin America:
Nathan EME
was commissioned by DFID to design a
programme aimed to support
the effectiveness of key IFIs
in enabling poor people to shape, participate in and benefit from
pro-poor and inclusive growth.
